214.0. "Cat Hotel of a Different Kind" by VIRTUE::RAVAN (Duly noted.) Tue Feb 18 1986 09:09
There was an article in the Nashua "Telegraph" a week or so ago about
a hotel in Wabasha, Minnesota, where the guests can not only reserve a
room, but a cat to go with it.
It's the Anderson House, a 130-year-old inn, which has ten resident
cats that may be booked at no additional charge. Some guests ask for
a specific cat by name, others by temperament, but nearly all the guests
ask for a cat. The most popular, a 32-pound ginger tabby, is named (of
course!) Morris. (I find it difficult to even imagine a 32 pound cat;
mine are plenty large enough at 11 and 13 pounds, and this beastie weighs
more than both of mine together!)
The inn is notable for other things, too. In the days before cats were
a part of the hospitality, the guest list included - at different times -
such worthies as Harry and Bess Truman, and John Dillinger.
I'm almost sorry I'm not planning any trips to Minnesota...
