129.0. "Another home needed" by GIGI::BRENDAN () Wed Aug 14 1985 13:39

Help! I am looking for a home for my jet black short hair.
He is two years old, neutered, and declawed. He is extremely friendly,
good with kids (we have a 10 year old), and loves to play fetch (So,
he's got a little phsycological problem, who doesn't?). We are moving
to an apartment that we simply cannot take him to (even under the cover
of darkness), and have exhausted all possibilities of friends. We hate
to see him go, but if nothing else, it would help if we knew he was going
to a good home. BTW, his name is Little-Bit.

Your kitty sounds just like my little run-away Tattoo. (He hasn't come
back and it's been 5 weeks now.) Let me double check this with my
husband tonight and I'll get back to you tomorrow about taking him in, ok?
Talk about psycological problems, I thought my other kitty Brandy was
the only one who like to fetch, she loves to go after the ring you
take off of plastic milk jugs.

I know what you mean about landlords, I moved into an apartment once,
but the landlord never said anything about not wanting pets. Well,
I had my two kitties and he saw one of them one day (the other one
was hiding somewhere). I told him I was babysitting, then the people
were going to be away, and even that the people couldn't take the
cats back. They weren't damaging anything, and she was spayed and
he was neutered, so there was no problem with kittens or spraying. He
had had some bad experiences in the past. One day he came up and told
me he had been thinking about it, and that it would be ok to have
them. He said that because I lived alone, he thought it was nice to
have company. Really! I was so relieved and happy. In my next 3
homes I was sure to check with the landlord and lucky for me (and kitties),
I have found pet people! (it's really hard to find them though).

I can also promise you he will/would have a very good home. We have a
big big apartment and he will get the best of care.

P.S. Where do you live?

re: .1

"CAT FANCY" magazine had an issue devoted to keeping cats in apartments called
"Keeping Cats in Apartments". It went into the problems you can have with
landlords. When I moved last month I had my cats written into the lease.

In Ontario if you have your cats for 3 months and make no effort to hide
the fact you can successfully petition to keep them despite a lease prohibiting
them.

Re: 2 That's very interesting to know (about apartments in Ontario).
Maybe it will catch on here in the States. It's too bad that
(it seems) pets cannot be more easily accepted by landlords.
I understand their position, what with wanting to keep their
property looking nice. I'm glad to see that Nursing Homes and
such are letting pets in. It helps the people so much.

I've been meaning to get a subscription to Cat Fancy. Think
I'll take a look in this notes file.
