| With a new baby due in a few weeks I am not in the market for a new cat now,
but will be in a while.
WILL PEOPLE OFFERING (OR WANTING) CATS PLEASE INDICATE WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED?
At least the state. This file is read by people all over.

| Re .1:
The file ANCHOR""::NET$NODES:MININODE.LST contains the up-to-date list
of E-net nodes, system managers and their mailstops. That, plus the
DEC phone book (which tells you the street address of every DEC plant),
gives you what you want to know.
No one should be without a copy.

| MININODE.LST is a big file, takes a long time to copy, and is updated
frequently, so your copy goes out of date fast. For convenience sake, I
think those who offer (or request) cats ought to indicate the general vicinity
where they live.

| re: .1 Good suggestion. When I put the first note in, when I was looking for
a home for Softy, I got a very nice response - unfortunately from a reader in
the UK !
I live in Stow, MA, USA !

| I DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHY THESE CATS NEED A NEW HOME. ARE YOU SISTER AND
HER HUSBAND IDIOTS OR CAT HATERS?
YOU MIGHT TRY PUTING AN ADD IN THE WANT AD MAGAZINE OR NEWS PAPER. I LOVE
CATS BUT LOST ONE TO A NEIGHBORS DOG SO I DONT LET ANY OF MINE OUT AT ALL.
CAN YOU MAKE AN AGREEMENT WITH THEM SO THAT YOU WILL OWN THE CAT AND TAKE ON
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TAKING CARE OF THEM PROVIDED THEY DONT GET NEAR THEM.
WHY DID THEY GET THESE CATS IF THEY DONT LIKE THEM?
PERSONALLY IF I WAS YOUR SISTER ID GET A DIVORCE.

| I have spoken to Christine about the cats. At the moment things are stable.
She is now out of town for a month and will not be able to provide an update
until early September.

| yes, at the moment things are stable, but knowing the situation as i do,
this may change at any time...i believe christine's sister and/or brother
-in-law may have some objection to inhaling cat hair...there may be other
reasons, but whatever/WHYever they are, the fact remains that the 2 cats
left would benefit from the possibility of another home...i know these
2 cats (not REAL well...i DID know and love softy dearly...almost took
him a couple of years ago myself), and i'm sure any perspective new owner
would be quite happy with them...

| Please...if things start looking grim, send me mail. I am NOT
looking for another cat (I have 3 already), but rather than see
two perfectly wonderful animals destroyed, I will take them.
I feel terrible about Softy. I would have taken him in a pinch.
I have a Siamese, and she is such a good companion. If anyone out there
knows of anyone who is looking for companionship (maybe a retired
person or a shut-in) these cats would probably be ideal. They are
mature enough so that they are well past the "home wrecking" stage,
they're healthy, and are known to be friendly.

| I agree the situation is still serious but having seen questions by people
in other notes asking for information, I entered that response because
christine couldn't. The person doing the objecting is the brother-in-law.
It is great to see the number of people speaking up about the cats. I hope
that the whole problem will be worked out in September.

123.10 | Darling cat looking for a home | GEMVAX::MONTGOMERY | | Mon Sep 16 1991 16:36 | 23 |
| Looking for a home for Sarah, an adorable housebroken, declawed,
neutered female gray tabby.
She's a wonderful, lovable companion who is wonderful with children.
Unfortunately, she and Hollywood, the Norwegian Elkhound with the IQ of
a coffee table, do not get along.
We took in this wandering waif about three weeks ago, and now that we
have nursed her back to health, it only seems right to let Hollywood
have his house back. She has been de-wormed and has had her distemper
shot.
Free to a good home (complete with litter box and food)
