I JUST HOUGHT I WOULD GIVE SOME FIRST HAND INFO. ON THE KITTY FRIEND AT TWO AS I AM THE ONE WHO FEEDS AND TAKES CARE OF HIM.HE HAS BEEN COMING HERE ABSOLUTELY EVERY DAY RAIN OR SHINE FOR TWO YEARS NOW. I WAS ON MY OUTSIDE PATROL ONE DAY AND FOUND HIM OUT BACK, HIS OLD FLEA COLLAR WAS CUTTING INTO HIS UNDERARM AS HE HAD TRIED TO GET IT OFF AT SOME POINT AND IT GOT CAUGHT I BROUGHT HIM TO THE VET AND GOT HIM CLEANED UP AND GOT HIS SHOTS, ETC. HE HAS BEEN HERE EVER SINCE,FAITHFULLY CATCHING ALL THE MICE AND RODENTS ON THE PROPERTY, INCLUDING RABBITS AND BIRDS. I DONT KNOW IF HE'S GOT A REAL HOME OR NOT,BUT HE SURE IS IN GOOD HEALTH.HE'S ALSO THE FRIENDLIEST CAT YOU COULD EVER MEET. EVERYBODY LOVES HIM. HE MAKES SURE EVERYONE SIGNS OUT AT NIGHT, WHEN HE'S NOT SLEEPING THAT IS. HE SLEEPS ON THE EXPENSIVE LOBBY CHAIRS. HE HAS HIS OWN BLANKET THOUGH, SO HE DOESN'T DIRTY THE UPHOLSTERY. HE IS GREAT COMPANY FOR THE NIGHT SHIFT. WE ALL SPOIL HIM TOO. IT'S A GOOD THING HE WORKS SO HARD OR HE WOULD GET FAT. I WILL TRY TO GET A PICTURE OF HIM FOR THE DTW, SO EVERY ONE CAN SEE HIM. ARE THERE ANY OTHER FACILITIES THAT HAVE KITTIES? I KNOW THE MILL HAS ONE. ARE THERE ANY OTHERS? DENISE

Several years ago, we noticed a cat limping through the yards and once in a while saw it near the garbage cans, but it would not come near anyone. My kids told me they saw it sleeping in our old unused dog house and it would run off when it saw the kids. The dog house was filled with flies when it left. It limped around for a year and a half and one day I found it lying in our yard close to the house dying. It was a cold rainy day in the fall and it was just pitifully lying there near death. It's fea collar had bound him leg to head and the buckel was imbedded under his front leg and it was all infected and full of maggots. That's why all the flies were around him. He was so thin, just literally skin and bones and probably dying from infection. I picked him up, he did not move a muscle but just kept looking at me. He had no weight and was light as a feather. I put him in a box and took him to the vet to be put to sleep. He was too far gone. I asked the vet to cut the collar from him before he died, but the vet refused saying he was too full of infection, but he would put him to sleep immediately. To this day it bothers me so bad that he was never freed of the collar. I tried to cut the collar before I brought him to the vet, but it was to thick to cut and I didn't want to move it and cause any pain to him as it was embedded in him. It was the sadest thing I have ever seen. Mary |
