When I attempt to install MS-Access 95, a Setup Initialization Error box contains the following text. "There is insufficient memory to run Setup. Try closing any open applications or restarting Windows." This seems unlikely on an AlphaServer 2100 with 512 MB RAM running WNT 4.0. Also, there is over 1.5 GB of free disk space. There are no other apps running. MS-Access support suggested booting WNT in VGA mode. I'm not sure how to do this since there is no BOOT.INI file. My customer site has an Access 95 database they want to run on the 2100. The database is not yet ready for Access 97 which I believe would install okay on WNT 4.0. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ED GILLUS

Well I'm on an Intel machine but it should not matter...when you start the system, NT will ask if you want VGA mode, indicate yes. You will only have a few seconds to do this. Also be careful about MS-Access 95 on NT 4.0. See note 1651.

Access95 and Access97 are 32-bit Intel products. I'm assuming you ARE using FX!32 to install these with, correct? If so, please try the FX!32 notesfile. They won't install otherwise. mike

RE: .1 I know how to set VGA mode in BOOT.INI on an Intel platform. This is an AXP 2100. RE: .2 No, FX!32 is not installed. Will install soonest. Thanks to both .1 and .2. ED GILLUS |
