1650.1Errors - workgroup admin and out of memory...MSAM03::HOSOKEHUNThu Apr 10 1997 06:1616
    Hi again,

I did not get any reply from here so went ahead to install.

The installation of Office 95 professional with FX!32 went okay until
the last step and complained about cannot create system.mwd file and
asked to run workgroup admin after reboot.

After system rebooted, did not know where is the workgroup admin but
tried to activate the MS ACCESS program anyway but before I got into
access, received error 'out of memory'

Well, maybe I am all out of luck, MS ECCESS cannot run on ALPHA.....

    Just my observations,
    Angeline
1650.2Does this help?SUBSYS::TEECERon Teece Storage PM&D Ops.Thu Apr 10 1997 10:0463
There is a Readme.txt file with FX!32 that you should refer to. It
indicates you must have NT 4.0 and you need 64MB of memory. (This for
version 1.1) Below are some Office and Access restrictions from the readme
file and a WWW address for help.

Please see the Digital FX!32 website for information about
    technical support:

         http://www.digital.com/info/semiconductor/amt/fx32

    Microsoft Office 97

o For Digital FX!32 Verison 1.1 Beta, Microsoft Office 97
             is not supported.

    Microsoft Office 95 Pro

o A previous problem with cross-architecture accesses of
spell checkers is corrected by Digital FX!32 installing
common shared components (such as spell checkers) into
appropriate separate locations, based on architecture.

o Errors have been reported when using the Answer Wizard in
Microsoft Office 95 to view What's New. This is not an
issue with Digital FX!32. Rather, the problem involves
OFVISEX; a 16-bit application that is launched when users
select the What's New help menu item. The workaround is
to access What's New from the Help dialog box.

o To correct a number of problems with graph operations,
after installing Microsoft Office, copy the file SDM.DLL
from the x86 System Directory, %SystemRoot%\sys32x86, to
             the directory, %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32.

o The Office installer creates an inoperative shortcut,
Setup, in the top-level MSOffice directory. That
shortcut attempts (but fails) to run the 16-bit Office
installer program, which can only be run from a DOS
command shell; the shortcut does not work. Remove the
Setup shortcut in the MSOffice directory.

o The Microsoft Office 95 Pro distribution CD-ROM setup
application performs an architecture querry that can
return an error message, reporting you are running the
wrong version of windows. In that case, run the setup
application (and hence its installer) from the Install
             x86 Application utility.

    Microsoft Access 7.0

o Microsoft Access 7.0 wizards are not supported for
             Digital FX!32 V1.1.

o General problems have been reported for database
replication under both native x86 and Alpha and it is not
supported. Attempts to replicate a database can return
an error message, "Microsoft error: Microsoft Access
cannot complete this operation because it can't find or
initialize the dynamic-link library "msjtclr" ", and
recommends you reinstall the briefcase. If you receive
such an error message, do not reinstall Microsoft
Briefcase Replication, as it currently serves no purpose.
