5513.0. "what is port number for DS300 and DS700" by HGOSPS::MASCOTTANG () Thu May 15 1997 03:24

My customer is running UCX V4.0. He has some DS300 and DS700 terminal
servers to support IP protocol. He would like to ask can he setup a IP
printer that connects to DECSERVER like LAT protocol. It is because customer
does not like to setup a LPD server queue on his system for security purpose.
As I Reviewed this notes, the telnet Print symboint may help on it, but
I don't like what is the setup /ON="HOST:PORT" for DS300 and DS700. Any
advice should be appreciated.

    Hello,

You can use TELNET printing on DECservers 300, 700, 90x, 900. The ports
you should use start at 2001 and end at 2008 or 2016 depending on the
    number of ports you have.

    Regards,

    Hi, ROELANDTS

I can setup the printer, but I don't know why all characters only
to print on a line, it seems the printer do not recognise the form
feed. Any advice should be appreciated.

Do you mean form or line feed? Check the telnet server characteristics on
the port. This sort of problem is usually solved with the command:

Local> set/def/change Port x Telnet Server Newline To Host <CRLF>

Hope this helps,
