5465.0. "Balancing load with SQL services" by IMPERO::BELLONI (CHMP = Change mode to Paraglide) Thu Apr 24 1997 08:49
Hello,
A customer of mine has a cluster of two VAX 4000(UCX is V4.1, VMS is 6.1).
This cluster serves several clients pc which communicate with it to work on a
RDB database using SQL services (btw, on DOS). He has recently switched from
Decnet to TCP communications.
The problem (again) is that all these pc, starting from their boot, try
to connect the cluster (using obviously a cluster IP address), but always are
all connected to only one of the nodes.
Are there some possibilities of distribute the load balance so that they
connect to both the nodes? What is the best load balance method?
Maybe that starting the UCX$METRIC is enough?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Max

| There are a large number of entries in this conference discussing this.
Please do a 'dir/title=balanc'. Note 4313 might be a good place to start.
Also chapter 5.4 of the management manual covers this.
Regards,
Oswald
