5453.0. "%SYSTEM-F-CONNECFAIL in POP logfile" by VAXRIO::CLAUS (Claus H. Ostmann - CSC - Brazil) Fri Apr 18 1997 14:14

    Hi,

    We have a customer which receives a lot of messages %SYSTEM-F-CONNECFAIL
    in a file UCX$POP_RECV_STARTUP.LOG. I set the debug on to attempt to watch
    what is happening.

    Anyone has any suggestion?

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Claus (CSC-DJO)

5453.1Same problem here.BRADEC::10.1.104.1::MolnarSI BratislavaWed Jun 04 1997 12:5419
Hi,

I've just upgraded to V4.1 ECO 4, because I wanted to recommend
UCX POP usage to our customer, but I'm seeing a lot of CONNECFAIL
messages in the POP logfile during my tests with Netscape or MS
Internet Mail.

Should I worry enough and discourage the customer, or is there a
better solution? I don't seem to find any sound recommendation to
this particular problem searching this conference. Maybe I'm in the
wrong place? Could this be a problem of some systemwide
buffer settings, process quota settings or what? I have seen the same
symptoms on both the customers AS4100 with 6.2-1H3 & UCX 4.1 (no
patch, but will ensure they apply at least ECO 2) and our own AS1000A
with 6.2-1H3 & UCX 4.1 ECO 4. So I don't believe it's HW related.

Any hints please?

Miro.

    re -.1

    Sorry for the rush,

    it was in reality Netscape mail, which did the disconnects. I just
    didn't have enough time to experiment with it at the customer site,
    but after some more thorough study at the office it's clear now.
    I'm sure now I'll recommend the environment to customer.

    Miro.
