5452.0. "keep the DATE fields of a file through FTP? " by PADNOM::CHEMINANT () Fri Apr 18 1997 10:44
A customer wants to save files between two VMS nodes through FTP,
but, he wants to keep the original dates (CREATION,REVISION, ...)
of the transferred files.
Could it be possible to wear these DATE fields into the FDL created
by FTP ?
It appears that, creating/modifying (adding these fields) into a
FDL file, the FTP command 'get/fdl' is working with them.
Is it heavy to add this FTP behaviour ?
Best regards.
Gait.

| My initial inclination is that we would need to add a new qualifier
(i.e. /PRESERVE_DATES) as most people probably want the current
behavior by default. To add a new qualifier means that we would add
such a feature to a new release (as it requires changes in several
areas, including [but not limited to] the documentation).
