5440.0. "VMS 7.1, UCX 4.1 ECO2 and SMTP" by TLE::MICHAUD (Lisa Michaud, DTN 381-0879) Wed Apr 16 1997 09:38
Ever since upgrading to VMS 7.1 (Alpha) and UCX 4.1 ECO 2, the SMTP
process goes crazy every once and a while and goes up to 100% CPU
utilization. Running UCX$SMTP_SHUTDOWN doesn't stop the process- I
have to do that manually. When I start SMTP up again, everything is
fine, and the mail in the queues gets processed. This is what appears
in the log file:
%%%%%%%%%%%% 16-APR-1997 00:19:41.47 %%%%%%%%%%%%
%SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual
address=000000007400
1E10, PC=0000000074001E10, PS=0000001B
WARNING: Fatal error signalled when processing CF=

]97041600193326_PORTANTE.UCX_PTHRED;1
Leaving as orphan
It's not always the same user's mail that it gets the access violation
on.
any ideas?

Sorry you are experiencing this problem.
I believe that the current ECO for UCX 4.1 is ECO4, available
at LASSIE UCX$ECO:. You could check the release notes for that.
I believe that there have been some SMTP fixes (and will be more
in ECO5).
I hope this helps,
Lee
