5375.0. "UCX$CIONFIG and Time Zone Problem" by GIDDAY::REID (David Reid,CSC,Sydney DTN 730-7233) Mon Mar 24 1997 21:36
Greeting,
A customer in New Zealand has been playing around with NTP and time zones since
that country came off daylight savings last week.
During the process of setting the correct time he noted that his time went back
to GMT rather than being 12+GMT.
Doing a UCX> sho config time I found that the differential was showing 0 and
that no amount of manipulation of timezone differentials would change this value.
Went back to basics.
With NTP off I ran UCX$CONFIG:
Option 1 - Core environment
Option 5 - Time Zone
In the time zone configuration New Zealand doesnt rate a mention and so the
choice to enter is "n"
Code then asks:
$say " You may enter the number of hours (-12 to 12) in time west of Greenwich"
enter "-12" (NZ being +12 GMT but -12 West of Greenwich"
By the time this code gets down to setting a symbol mcc_tdf the value has become
a "0" as stdval is a string!!
the line:
$ucx set configuration time "''logname'" /DIFFER = "''mcc_tdf'"
...sets the "differ" always to 0.
Have I found a problem here or am I missing something??
Regards,
David R
PS....Further to this if I change the differential dynamically
UCX> set conf time/diff= -12
it still seemed to have no impact on NTP when restarted??
