A customer is running UCX V4.1 ECO3 on an AlphaServer (but the problem is believed to appear on earlier UCX too). When he did a TN3270 connection to his IBM/MVS system, he can't spawn out of the telnet connection, he gets the following message: TELNET> spawn %CLI-E-TRMMBX, terminal has associated mailbox - terminate image and then SPAWN If he just do a normal telnet, then spawn worked, but he needs the 3271 terminal emulation! I tried tn3270 to a VMS system, and was able to spawn out of the telnet prompt, but then again, I wasn't in the full 3270 terminal emulation. Is this a known problem? (I don't have an MVS to reproduce the symptom) /Dave

This is a problem as the TN3270 code uses SMG (this code comes from the
SNA group). It uses the terminal's associated mailbox to receive the
notification of certain events on the terminal.
This is currently a restriction.

John, Is this restriction documented anywhere? I need it to fence off the customer, otherwise, in his own words, "Are Engineering going to resolve this problem or do you guys know of any third party product?" Thanks, /David | |||||
