Hi, my customer has the following problem: He uses on a AXP VMS 7.1 and UCX 4.1 the PC-NFS but he can't mount files from the UCX-node. The PC work with PC-TCP 3.0. At the SYS$SYSDEVICE:[UCX$PCNFS]UCX$PCNFSD_STARTUP.LOG he gets an error rpc.pcnfsd: proxy database error 229c on VMS user system Customer says it works all fine with VMS 6.2 and UCX 3.1. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Johann

The error SS$_WRONGNAME (229c) is generated when the host's name is not translatable from its address. Please check the host DB and the name server.

Hi, thanks for your reply. My customer uses a name server and the entries in the database are OK (because ping, telnet and other NFS are working alright, only the PC-NFS doesn't work). If the clients are set into the local HOST-database manually, it works, but I think this is not the solution of the problem. Regards, Johann

Johann, That might be the problem, how are the proxies set up ??? What is the hostname used to define the proxies ? Check in the logfiles and/or in the OPCOM messages it will surely give a clue as to wht is wrong Rgds, Guy
5336.4 | solution; reverse-lookup | UTOPIE::FISCHER_J | Wed Mar 26 1997 01:59 | 10
Hi! The problem is solved now. The real problem was that the customer has no database for the reverse-lookup on his name-server(SCO-Unix). Thanks for spending your time helping me. Regards, Johann |
