Hi, My customer uses bind in combination with TXT records. With ucx$nslookup you can the do: > set q=txt > hostname And it will return something like: vosi09.uto.dec.com This is the txt record Is it possible to get the same info using a qio or socket call? Regards, Oswald

Anybody know how this can be done? Or does anybody have (a pointer to) sources of nslookup? Thanks, Oswald

Get the source to nslookup and steal the code from it. To find the sources, use Altavista. Search for nslookup and faq, and I bet you find an FAQ that lists the location of sources related to dns. Alternatively, pick up the oreilly book on bind/dns which describes how this works and includes pointers to various dns tool sources.
