5314.0. "UCXAXP 4.1, VMS 7.1, and spool dir not created" by CSC32::J_WHISONANT () Thu Mar 06 1997 22:32

There appears to be a problem with UCXAXP 4.1 and VMS 7.1. If you
create a new LPD queue with UCX$lprsetup, the spool file is not
created. The following is a log file from a sample session.
    Regards,

Problem looks like an issue with the printcap file. Add a '#' (comment
    character) and it should work.

This error normally points to bad printcap entry and your printcap file
did not have the comment character between entries.

5314.3Is there any FIX to this problem of UCX$LPRSETUP.EXE....CTHU56::L_PELLANDLuc Pelland. Hull. DTN 640-7218Fri May 30 1997 13:2017
Hello,

One of my customer reported that same problem to me yesterday. I was able
to reproduce the problem on UCX 4.1 and UCX 4.1 ECO 4 on an ALPHA running
OpenVMS 6.2 or 7.1. It worked ok on a VaxStation. It look like UCX$LPRSETUP
does not create the spool directory anymore wich cause the queue to fail
when the customer try to print to it. When you manually create the
directory the queue work fine.

.1 suggested to add the # in the printcap file wich I did but when I added
another printer the spool directory was not created.

Anybody else can confirme that they have seen or are able to reproduce the
problem. This might need to be IPMT...

I always have to manually create the spool directory when adding a queue with
UCX$LPRSETUP. I'm not sure with what version this bug got introduced.
