5294.0. "SNMP, Network Mgr?" by CSC32::E_MOORE () Tue Mar 04 1997 02:32

    	Does DEC have a recommended third party vender for a
    	SNMP Network Management Director? The manual(DEC TCP/IP
    	Services for OpenVMS, P.6-19).	References UCX/SNMP as an
    	agent only.

    	Thank you in advance.

5294.1Try MIBMaster from EquivalenceFRUST::LUKASUnix starts with an `L'Tue Mar 04 1997 07:3629

    I am using MIBMaster from Equivalence.

    Try MIBMaster Home Page at
    http://www.ozemail.com.au/~equival/mibmastr/index.html

    I think it is an excellent tool for managing SNMP MIBs because you can
    use a commonly used Web-Browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer, or whatever
    you want) to manage remote SNMP systems.

    You can download a MIBMaster trial version for Windows 95/NT, Linux and
    Solaris from their home page. With this trial version you are allowed to
    view up to 7 MIB variables (no SETs are allowed with this trial version).
    But you can request a temporary key from Equivalence and you will get
    one very quick, I have done so. (It works for approx. 1 month)
    With this temporary key you can do all you want (unlimited gets and
    sets).
    The licence fee for the fully registered version is $50,-

    Give it a try.

    I use it for about two weeks now on Windows 95, Windows NT and Linux
    without a problem.

    regards,

    Dieter Lukas

Polycenter NetView? I'd expect DEC recommends it, since it
is our SNMP director product.

5294.4POLYCENTER NetView is now a Tivoli productTHEBAY::WIEGLEBVoracious schools of lottery girlsTue Mar 04 1997 17:5812
    "POLYCENTER Manager for NetView" is no longer sold under that name. We
    are "partnering with Tivoli to further NetView as an Industry leading
    Network Management Platform".

    We still sell it though under a different part number and Tivoli's
    name. It's called "TME 10 NetView".

    There is a fairly lengthy document "NetView Tough Questions and
    Answers" which explains the sale and the new arrangment. The document
    can be found under WebIR.
