5234.2 | Two options to adjust the time... | twick.nio.dec.com::PETTENGILL | mulp | Mon Feb 24 1997 21:36 | 9 |
| The first option is to use/modify the batch procedure
sys$examples:DAYLIGHT_SAVINGS.COM
The second option is to use DECnet-PLUS and DECdts.
(I'd love to come up with a new time server for VMS that would replace
all the servers, but real work, and lately, IMAP4 investigations have
gotten in the way.)

| Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I test the first one and it is workimg. The
customer will accept it tomorrow. The second solution is not accepted by the
customer.
Best regards,
Jacques

5234.4 | UCX SHOW CONFIG TIME = n/a ? | SANITY::PCUMMINGS | The perfect democracy | Tue May 13 1997 14:56 | 29 |
| Interesting. Hadn't heard of the sys$examples:DAYLIGHT_SAVINGS.COM
procedure before. We had been using the procedure it calls (as I can
see after reviewing the procedure)
@SYS$MANAGER:UTC$CONFIGURE_TDF.COM SET _tdf_value_ _set_new_time_to
in SYSMAN SET ENV/CLUSTER.
One other thing, I just noticed after seeing people make reference to
UCX SHOW CONFIG TIME was that it's value appears to be non-effective
on our systems. UTC$CONFIGURE_TDF.COM writes to either SYS$SYSTEM:
SYS$TIMEZONE.DAT or in some cases like pre-V7 Alpha SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:
SYS$BASE_IMAGE.EXE. I'm just realizing that the SHOW CONFIG TIME is
there, but what significance does it bring?
UCX SHOW CONFIG TIME
TIME configuration
Value: EST5EDT4,M4.1.0,M10.5.0
Differential: -5
SHO LOG SYS$TIMEZONE_DIFFERENTIAL
"SYS$TIMEZONE_DIFFERENTIAL" = "-14400" (LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE)
All of the systems I have appear this way. i.e., the -14400 (or -4
hours) is what's used. Looks like info stored in the UCX CONFIG
database is not used.
Comments anyone?
/Paul
