5216.0. "SHOW PROT UDP/Socket buffer drops" by RULLE::KLASSON (Sven-Olof Klasson @GOO) Wed Feb 12 1997 11:29
Hi,
A customer has a application process to communicates with 50-100 PLC's. A PLC
is a small computer used for controlling robots and machines in a manufactory
plant.
UDP is used for communication. Sometimes they loose communication with PLC's
for a while. When this happens UCX SHOW PROT UDP/SOCKET BUFFER DROPS
increments. The customer has tried to increase the quota
UCX> set prot udp/quota=(receive=18000,send=18000)
But they are still having problems, and SOCKET BUFFER DROPS increments.
They have seen with UCX SHOW DEV BGx /FULL that RECEIVE/Socket buffer bytes
grows to very close the quota value when they have problems.
What does this mean?
Is there a problem with the application process were it does not read data wich
it has received?
Or, could this be a problem with UCX?.
I would appreciate comments on this.
UCX V4.0-1 on VMS/Alpha V6.2-1H2
Thanks,

| The problem has been found. This was a application problem. It did not
read data frn the UDP port.
