| Using LANE (LAN emulation). CLIP is rather limiting in its architecture
and can't support cluster aliases. I'm not sure if the cluster alias
ARP hack will work over ATM LANE, but this is the basic approach that
Truclusters has taken for Digital UNIX to support ATM.
ATM is still rather immature, ie, not very reliable. Maybe ATM gurus
can get it to work reliably, but people used to FDDI and Ethernet find
ATM to be far more trouble than its worth.
However, since I'm sure that there are cases where ATM/CLIP is being used
to knock out bidders, we're trying to test as much of ATM as we can.
My current guess is that we (STE) _might_ be able to begin testing CLIP
support in 4-6 months, assuming that there is someone requesting that it be
tested.
