I have read the notes entries re. query of DHCP support within UCX
(2459 dated 22-JUN-1995 & 371 dated 7-JUN-1994 ). That was quite a
while ago.
Any advances yet?
With Digital supporting Windows NT in a big way, DNS servers need to
co-exist in a mixed environment with a lot of mail going across DHCP
clients & mail gateways.
Even if we do not support DHCP within UCX, we would at least require
the DNS servers to update the changing address of DHCP clients
dynamically.
In the absense of PC based mail gateways in many customer sites,
existing VMS/UNIX customers would find a lot of value in Dynamic DNS.
When do we plan to implement this?

I think my title was a bit misleading. I meant "Dynamic DNS on
DNS servers to support DHCP clients".

| Dynamic updates in DNS will be implemented in IPv6.
