5157.0. "UCX SET INTERFACE tt0/host= hangs system" by CSC32::R_WILLIAMS () Fri Jan 24 1997 14:20

    Hi,

I have a customer who is seeing his system hang because of his token
    ring interface.

    Alpha 6.2-1H3, UCX 4.1.

Initially UCX did not see his PBXNP-AA PCI-Token Ring Adapter, IWA0.

I had him define this controller with the command:

      UCX DEFINE COMMUNICATION_CONTROLLER IW /type=(cluster,token_ring)
      /inter=w

Now, UCX could see his token ring interface.

However, his customer sent him directions that he needs to call his
    interface TT0.

    He did a command of:

DEFINE COMM IW /INTER=T /TYPE=(TOKEN,CLUSTER) ! he tried interface t and
                                                   ! interface w
    UCX SET INTERFACE tt0/host=peds

This is where his system hangs. He cannot CTRL/Y out of this and has
    to reboot his system.

He tried the WT0 and TT0 naming conventions. He gets the same results
each time. Any ideas as to what is going on? Is this interface
    supported by UCX?

    Thanks,

    -Rick

    	Hi,

May you use $ mcr lancp and said 1)
show config and 2) show devices /param
From this utilitie you should see the token
ring interface with all the characteristics
(hardware address, speed, etc) , if you
don't see this the problem is hardware and
    	not software nor ucx problem.
