Morning!
I've installed DECram V2.2B on a standalone system running OpenVMS VAX
V6.1, in order to perform some tests that will involve volume shadowing
of the DECram devices. I'm unable to use DECRAM$SETSHAD to redefine
the ramdisks' device types, because DECRAM$SETSHAD.EXE fails with
%SYSTEM-F-ILLIOFUNC, illegal I/O function code
The DECram devices appear to be local, as the attached shows. Is there
a problem with SETSHAD, or (more likely) am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance,
Mary

Any replies?
The only report of the ILLIOFUNC occurred because local DECram devices
weren't used (see attached article). I created my disks on a
standalone system, following steps outlined in the users manual. What
else can cause this error?

SYMPTOM:
Executing either of the two command procedures:
@SYS$MANAGER:DECRAM$SETSHAD decram_device_name
@SYS$MANAGER:DECRAM$SETRAM decram_device_name
returns the following error:
%SYSTEM-F-ILLIOFUNC, illegal I/O function code
SOLUTION:
These command procedures can ONLY be run on local DECram
devices. They are not intended to be executed on MSCP
served DECram devices.
For further explanation of what these two command procedures
do, please see another article entitled:

Yes. DECram engineering does read this conference.
However, DECram engineering is one man.
