281.0. "%DDAL-E-BADDBINFO in extraction from "trans gateway to PC DATA"" by rdb4me.au.oracle.com::DLAWLER (Press any key to continue or any other key to quit...) Wed Apr 23 1997 04:40

Hi,

I've cross posted this in Rdb, Data Distributor and DBI conferences.

A high profile customer is currently evaluating the Rdb Transparent Gateway
for PCData and is attempting a Data Distributor extraction from a MS SQLServer
database on an NT/intel box. The transfer is failing with %DDAL-E-BADDBINFO.
I've included the transfer log file for the failed extraction and another for
a successful extraction from an Rdb database on the same system.

Respective products and versions are:
	NT/intel 3.51
	MS SQLServer 6.5
	VAX/Vms 6.1
	Rdb 6.0-15
	DDal 6.0-7
Rdb Transparent Gateway for PCDATA 7.0.

The customer is anxious about this as they intended to go live soon and this
could be a show stopper.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dennis.

281.1They need DDAL 7.0, not 6.0BROKE::PROTEAUJean-Claude ProteauWed Apr 23 1997 22:008

Nowhere in the DDAL 6.0 literature is it stated that the PC Data
Gateway is supported. There's a list of supported gateways I think in
a table in chapter 1 of the DDAL 6.0 handbook.

Support for the PC Data Gateway was added in DDAL, that is, the
Replication Option for Rdb, version 7.0. And if they decide to install
ROR 7.0, they must upgrade to either Rdb 6.1 or 7.0.
