269.0. "Bugcheck at LDRV$ORACLE_SHR + 001E0AFC" by 10245::COBROWN (Colin from Danmark) Thu Mar 06 1997 10:55

    CT is doing transfers from Rdb 6.1-04 on AXP VMS 6.2 via Gateway to
    Oracle version 7.0 and DBI version 7.0. The Oracle system is on Alpha NT,
    but it does not look like this is the issue here.

    They are using replication option 6.1.

    We are not sure why DBI insists on being installed, as the manuals say
    we only need the gateway?

    The other funny thing is the bugcheck says the version of DBI is
    V3.1-02A?

    First real question is can we use replication version 6.1 or earlier
    with the 7.0 gateway?

    Another extra question, is replication option shipped on it's own?

    The transfers are bugchecking, with:
    **** Exception at 01564AFC: LDRV$ORACLE_SHR + 001E0AFC  (01968892)

    but right at the end of the transfer. All the data seems to be arriving
    fine in the Oracle7 NT database.

    Bugcheck dump available.

    Any advice or answers welcome.

I shouldn't think that NT has any bearing on the problem.

Are you sure of this? Replication Option 6.0-11 is the version that was
released early last year from Oracle. Then more recently we released version
7.0. Version 6.1 was a Beta version released from Digital. When the product
was bought by Oracle, 6.1 was changed to 7.0. So, there never was a production
version of 6.1 per se.

You might post a note in the DBINTEGRATOR_PUBLIC conference on node NOMAHS.

Is it a DBI bugcheck? If so, you ought to post the note in the DBI conference
mentioned above.

There's no official ROR 6.1. ROR 6.0-11 won't work with the 7.0 DBI gateways
because their names changed. ROR 7.0 will work with those gateways.

Yes.

269.2Dumber and dumber...10245::COBROWNColin from DanmarkFri Mar 07 1997 06:0614
    That cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Thanks.

    Sorry about the 6.1 red herring it must be 6.0-11. I know this as you
    might notice from the other questions, I never realised that ROR 7.0
    shipped seperately.

    Seems that they managed to find a 3.1 DBI kit from Digital and install
    that. I thought the CT had installed 7.0 as they had no valid PAK for
    3.1, due to upgrading their Alpha, and we agreed installing 7.0 was
    easier than finding a PAK:-)

    I will order the right kit and post this if there are still problems.

269.3Upgrade to 7.0...10245::COBROWNColin from DanmarkWed Mar 26 1997 06:064
    Upgraded Replication option to 7.0 and DBI gateway to Oracle7 to 7.0
    and it works fine now:-)
