250.1 | It's almost ready | BROKE::PROTEAU | Jean-Claude Proteau | Thu Nov 14 1996 08:52 | 5 |

Replication Option version 7.0 will be available very soon (this is the
same product as was once called DEC Data Distribuor version 6.1 -- it
was renumbered when we became part of Oracle). By very soon I mean a
matter of weeks. Stay tuned.

| The customer called again and came through to me.
It seems that he has an old field test kit (DDAL061), possible not even
an official field test.
They have been developing with it and now want to put it into
production!

250.3 | Is there a problem? | BROKE::PROTEAU | Jean-Claude Proteau | Thu Nov 14 1996 10:11 | 10 |
| Peter,
Apart from the fact tat our final kits have not yet been released, is
there some other problem? DDAL 6.1 field test is still officially not
over until we release the product. As I said, the product version
number has been changed to version 7.0, so there will not be a version
6.1 release per se. The numbering change was simply to align our
release with the Rdb 7.0 release.

250.4 | Install Guide & Support Issue | M5::DMACKENZ | | Thu Nov 14 1996 11:29 | 13 |
| Claude,
There is no technical problem reported with DDAL 6.1.
The customer is looking for the installation guide. It is not
contained in the kit savesets. I'm assuming the the 7.0 installation
guide will give him exactly what he needs. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, he wants something in writing from Oracle stating that this is
a field test release, not support, etc. Do we have a letter of this
type of field test versions?

250.5 | What and when and where | BROKE::PROTEAU | Jean-Claude Proteau | Thu Nov 14 1996 11:59 | 15 |
| I just sent the customer a FAX explaining that:
1) DDD 6.1 is logically equivalent to ROR 7.0. The product was renamed
and renumbered when we became a part of Oracle corporation.
2) DDD 6.1 is a field test version and as such is not supported in a
production enviroment. We are at the end of the development cycle
for ROR 7.0 and anticipate shipping the product to manufacturing in
a few weeks.
3) The installation guide for the most recent field test kit is in the
ftp kit area along with the save sets. One of the replies to the
early notes (8.last?) should give you a pointer.
