214.0. "Bugcheck dump generated when showing protection" by ORAREP::FUTURS::BIRCH () Fri May 24 1996 05:17

    I support Dec's internal HRO applications and I have a problem with in
    Greece - their machine (ATHINA) was running DecStep 5 but they decided to
    upgrade RDB to V6.0-0 and now we are having problems with DDAL.

    I can create a transfer without an error and if I do 'SHOW TRANSFERS'
    in SQL it is there, however if I try 'SHOW TRANSFER
    BAPS_GR_TO_ERF_GR00' it looks fine until it gets to:

    Protection for transfer BAPS_GR_TO_ERF_GR00:
    %SQL-I-BUGCHKDMP, generating bugcheck dump file $2$DUA5:[BAPS_GR]SQLBUGCHK.DMP;5
    %SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual address=00000008, PC
    =000A7F19, PSL=03C00000

    If I try to start the transfer I don't get an error but it does not
    run.

    Greece's local IS don't seem to know what the problem is and our
    group's knowledge on DDAL is rather limited so I would be very grateful
    for any help.

    					Thanks

214.1What version of DDD?BROKE::PROTEAUJean-Claude ProteauFri May 24 1996 07:434

    My guess is that when you upgraded your version of Rdb you also needed
    to upgrade your version of Data Distributor. What version of Data
    Distributor are they running?
214.2ddal problem with RDB v6.ORAREP::ATHINA::KARVOUNISFri May 24 1996 08:553
    We have upgraded DDAL as well. This is where the problems started.
    We are running V6.0-0.

214.3Two choices at this pointBROKE::PROTEAUJean-Claude ProteauFri May 24 1996 10:006

    You have two choices at this point. One is to escalate the problem
    through the normal problem reporting channel. The other is to upgrade
    to version 6.0-11 of Data Distributor. I'm not certain that 6.0-11
    will correct their problem, but I also am not hearing this from other
    customers.

    You may also want to upgrade Rdb to V6.0-14 (or V6.1...) since many
    protection related problems have been resolved since V6.0-0. I know
    that is difficult to do with DECstep, but don't bother escalating
    anything to Oracle engineering unless you have upgraded to the latest
    kits and still observe the problem.

    Hello Jean-Claude,

      I have sent 2 log files with the exact errors but by mistake I
    created a new note it is 215 if you could see it maybe you will be
    able to see something from the errors. This log was created today
    when the transfer executed.

    regards
