Believe the Aspirin trademark wasn't lost to common usage, but was appropiated
by the WW1 victors as reparations.

| There are, now. After WW1 the allies told Bayer that their trademark was no
longer valid (just in the US? where else?) and anyone who makes drug-grade
acetylsalicylic acid may call it "aspirin" if they so desire.
I don't know why this was done, as it hurt Bayer in particular, not Germany
in general. Maybe Bayer made some evil war gas or something.

Plexiglas, with one 's', is a registered trademark of Rohm and Haas
Company for their clear acrylic sheet product. R&H are not the only
producers of clear acrylic sheet, but "plexiglass" is commonly enough
used as a generic that it probably qualifies.
