Alan Keyes is a prime example of how the media is hypocritical. They
do all this stuff on how the republican party does not include blacks,
but they do not cover Keyes at all.

| Exactly...which is what I've been harping on for the last few years.
The left in this country is composed of elitist, hypocritical racists.

Unlike Powell would have been, Keyes is a minor candidate, like
Buchanan and Forbes. These men won't be nominated, not so much
because of the positions they take, as that they have not held
sufficient responsible positions : governor of a state, senator,
vice prex, commanding general, secretary of state.
President is unlike any other constitutional office, and is taken
the most seriously of all of them. Always in US history, we have
elected people with real track records in positions of real power.
Good idea, too - next year will be no different.
What Keyes says, is interesting. But he gets second-tier coverage
because he is a second tier candidate.

But jj, like Pat Robertson, never got nominated, even though he
arguably best represented dem views several times. People often
urged him to run for lower office, but he always refused. Being
a preacher is a plus/minus thing. But no track record is a real
obstacle.
Not that a real 'outsider' might not be a good idea - our least
experienced prex ever was surely Lincoln, who had only been a
two-term congressman. It's just too big an obstacle for skeptics
to overcome.

I went there on Friday. They are not there. People in the building
had never heard of Alan Keyes or BAMPAC.

| Alan Keyes is a very competent black concervative attorney who has run
for Senator in MD against both Sarbanes and Mikulski and has lost...he
was refused membership in the NAACP in 1991. (He was trying to rejoin
the group after having lest in 1982. This was the time of the
Thomas-Hill fiasco)
Bottom line is, if it doesn't please the liberal media establishment to
cover a viable candidate, they won't!

Keyes was great in a debate last night in Texas...I expected one questioner,
after Keyes was done with him, tohave the head of a donkey on his shoulders
(a la Bugs Bunny cartoons).
