| Yeah, I flicked back and forth catching excerpts.
As it was an end of a work day I was looking for uppers -- not any more downers
-- no pun intended.
Interesting the way "Boo-Boo" just strolled right out of the store with those
golf clubs he shoplifted. Was that because he was "smarter than the average
bear" I wonder?
Curious...what sort of emotion "throughout the city" did it cause?

I get the Lowell Sun. It is chuck full of statements from
citizens and local politicians claiming the city was defamed
by this show. And its editorials also condemn the depiction.
Nobody claimed the show was false, or unbelievable. Instead,
the gist of the protest was, "Why us ? Why Lowell ? You could
have filmed this in any US city, so why demean Lowell ?"

Boo Boo's been selling clubs for years...last I heard it was
$100.00 and name your brand.....Brenda was the real sad story. Grew up
in Lowell, go downtown and look around, Boo Boo was right. Lawrence is
worse but by how much? All the pols are crying, too bad!

Doesn't Ayer belong in there? (Granted, it doesn't begin
with L... Then again, Worcester doesn't either, but I
know people who would say it is a bigger pimple than the
three L's combined...)
Having lived out there (in Lowell) before moving to Colorado,
I would have placed Lawrence at the top of the list too.
Lowell was a pretty good place about 10 years ago, but once
Wang crashed, Lowell went with it, so it deserves #2 on the
list. My wife was born and raised in Lowell (Pawtucketville)
and the last time we visited back there she lamented that
"this isn't home anymore..."

No, Ayer doesn't belong in there. I read the Police blotter for Ayer in
the local paper every week - plenty of minor crimes (drunk & disorderly,
vandalism, shoplifting, driving without a license), but I've never seen
murders, rapes, drug arrests, bla bla bla.

ayer's an ok place... and it is host to the eighth circular
wonder of the world and all... where all of the roads leading
to nowhere converge. it also has the only wendy's restaurant
i know of where you stand in line surrounded by special
forces personnel. there's something oddly comforting, in
a "this ain't mcdonald's in san diego" sort of way, about
that...

| No, Ayer is nothing compared to Lowell and Lawrence, and
neither is Worcester. I went to college in Worcester and
while there were a few sections you stayed away from (if you
were a woman attending Clark University you did not go out
at night alone, for example), on the whole it was not that
bad. Of course, that was also thirteen years ago (ouch!).
I believe it was thought at one time that most of the drug traffic in
Central Mass passed through Clinton, actually, although in
all the years I lived there I never saw blatant evidence
of that.

Cute, real cute. It was named after DeWitt, not William.

about him where I grew up along the route of his Folly.

Nothing, as far as I know. There are a few Clinton's
scattered across the country, some of which I believe are
also named after him. I only remember that I was told in
school it was named after him, I don't think anyone bothered
to tell me why. My hazy memory tells me it was originally
called Lancaster Mills and was part of Lancaster until
the 1850's but why they chose to call it Clinton when
it was incorporated, I don't know.
