354.0. "Job Fairs" by ASDG::FAY () Wed Mar 22 1995 09:05

    Anyone ever been to one? What was the experience like, good or bad?
    Are they a waste of time or a valuable resource?

    Thanks.

 I loved the roller coaster, but stay away from the tilt-o-whirl.

     I got hired at Digital through a job fair in Worcester MA back in
    1988.

                                 Steve J.

    P.S. It is also a good opportunity to present yourself without having
         to get granted an interview.

    Crap, IMHO.

    The two job fairs I've been to were polluted with incompetent staff,
    unable to make a decision, just giving you the names of their personnel
    managers and flashy brochures. Also, you are constantly interrupted by
    dashing young men in their newly bought suits who think they make a
    good impression by recklessly interrupting your talk to promote
    themselves.

    Both fairs were AIESEC Contact Fairs, maily aimed at students of
    economical matters and banks/insurances,consultancy agencies.

    Do they offer relo funds?
354.13See you all there!ASDG::FAYWed Mar 22 1995 10:196
    The job fair in Natick this week, consists of companies from all
    over the country. They are looking to fill jobs in all areas of
    semiconductor technology. I don't know what the relo policy is but
    I am sure they will have them...you would probably have to find that
    out from each company.

Why are <insert ethnic group> such lousy lovers?

They wait for the swelling to go down.

    My (former) leader went to the aforementioned JF and found himself
    with an offer of 2x current salary, plus stock, plus relo etc etc.
    sadly he was walked out the other day when he refused DECs counter
    offer of 2 peanuts and a spanking :-( sniff ...
