Terrie, my sister used one of those. I didn't recognize her. :-) They
did a good job with her. She kind of looked like the early years of Suzanne
Sugarbaker from Designing Women. But alas, she lives in Georgia, so that won't
help you out here.

Terrie,
I went to one of those once. This company traveled to different
places though, rather than having one permanent spot in the mall.
It was actually a lot of fun. Kind of a "be a model for a day"
type thing only you pay them instead of them paying you. =)

Thanks for the responses.
Actually, I already went. (Yesterday) It was alot of fun.
I had a great time, and I can't wait to see how they come out.
I'm going thursday evening to pick up the proofs, before school.
I was just curious to see if anyone else had ever done it, and if
they were satisfied with the pictures.
Thanks again,
Terrie

I did something similar once. It wasn't a makeover place in a
mall, it was a studio in NYC that specializes in publicity
photos. For 10+ hours, a half dozen gay men fussed with makeup,
fussed with my hair, and fussed with the strange clothes they
kept hanging on me. Through all of this, they insisted that
I wear absolutely no underwear. Supposedly it was to eliminate
lines in the tight fitting clothing, but I wonder... :-)
Unfortunately, it was rather cold in the studio that day and
spending that much time naked didn't help ... :-) :-) :-)
Anyway, from what I hear, it cost several thousand dollars to do
this, although thankfully, it wasn't my nickle. The end result
was a stack of glossy 8x10s that made me look like a runner-
up in a Village People beauty contest.

| Many moons ago, on my 21th birthday I decided it would be nice to go
the glamour route and present my mom and dad with a nice studio
portrait. The first time my kids saw it they asked who the lady in the
picture was, and I understand my granddaughter did the same thing when
she went to visit for the first time. I guess that photographer was
pretty good.

Actually, as I was telling Mz. Deb a little while ago, when the
hair and make-up were done, and I looked in the mirror, I still
recognized 'me' looking back. And, I did my hair and make-up this
morning the same way that they did it there. Several people have
commented that I look 'different' today.
I think that the only real difference is going to be that I was not
allowed to wear my glasses for the pictures. (You should have been
there to see me try to *feel* my way around the studio!) hehehe

Lynne,
The one I went to was only $14.95 for the sitting, but you
are right about the cost of the pictures. It was $70.00
just to buy your proofs (8 shots), and the packages went
up from there. It was a great time, and the pictures really
came out nice!

of course, when i had mine done 2-1/2 years ago (in texas), the sitting
fee was free (had a coupon) and the pics ended up costing me over 200$.
but, then again, i got a lot of pics for that...8x10s, 5x7s, a ton of
wallets, and the proofs and a couple of frames. and besides,
professional photos don't came cheap in the first place, and it's a
nice little way to pamper yourself (or the deserving woman in your life),
if only for a short time...and the results are wonderful! they (the
pics) make great gifts and they even allow more than one person in the
pics, like mom and daughter, sisters, best friends, or even couples. i
remember seeing some of the promo pics on the wall and there were a few
guy/gal shots...it is really fun...and you get to see yourself in a way
that you normally don't...like i had one shot with a purple boa, one
shot i was in a leather jacket, another looked like an evening gown and
there was one where i had on a cowgirl hat and gloves...definitely a
treat...
