On the plus side, having Marion Barry re-elected puts to rest, at
least for awhile, the silly talk about D.C. statehood.
Of course, the Republican controlled Congress would never let that
happen anyway.

| Why the surprise? The voters know they are getting a crack-head but
with the crime rate being what it is in DC, at least half the voters
must have some kind of a record themselves. A prime example of an area
with tight gun control and proof that such efforts are fruitless in
controlling violent crime. Here in PRM we have a Senator who "forgot"
to call the cops until 8 hrs. after someone drowned in his car and his
cousin the police chief in the area helped cover it up, we have a
representative who hired male prostitutes and had one running a
call-boy operation out of the rep's apartment and this same rep said he
wasn't buying male prostitutes with taxpayer dollars, and our other rep
who got caught having sexual relations with a minor and got off with a
censure which is essentially the Congress saying, "Hey! You better not
do that again!" with the implication being, of course, you better not
get caught. While this offense would land most of us in jail, it didn't
deter the voters of Mass. So, I would say Mayor Barry is in good
company. Salute to the voters who kept Ollie North out. They are
obviously much brighter than the voters of Mass. and D.C. Barry would
fit right in with the PRM Democraps.

| I guess this goes along with hero's and leaders being from a differnt
bolt of cloth than the common man. And it is the common man that makes
up the goverment system. What reaks of pure crappie is when these
people are able to excape the prosocution that the common folks are
unable to do.
Yes, they are people, and fall from grace as the common folks do. But
it is the fact that they can walk thru the flame unburnt. Because they
are public officials.... If any of these things like the Teddy case
had happened to any of us. We would be in jail. No questions.

| Compared to several other political canditates past, present and most
likely future, Ollie North and Marion Bassy aren't all that bad...
Compare them to extremes like FatBoy, or Lyndon LaRouche, David Duke,
etc... FatBoy os on the extreme tip of the left wing, the others are
from the rearmost part of the bird which goes over the fence last.
None of them really "deserved" to run for office, much less actually
win...

I was in DC area when Barry won the primary back in Sept.
Local newspaper article said that his most memorable quote
during his first term as mayor was, as the FBI arrested him,
'Da bitch done set me up'.

not that it excuses MB getting elected as mayor, let us not forget
Studds, who addmitted to having sex with a minor congressional page,
and Frank who allowed a male prostitute friend to use his home and
office for solicitation. ofcourse fat boy stands out above and beyond
all.

| There's one thing about most science fiction that often gets me to chuckle.
More often then not when someone encounters an inhabited planet they will find
that the entire population of the planet is controlled by one guy who us usually
not only leader of the population but president of the largest state and mayor
of it's capital city.
Do you realize that if earth were organized this way and the Vulcans showed
up that Marion Barry would be the unquestioned leader of the earthlings?
"Hail leader of earth"
"Yo, got any snuff?"
