| Men think they really do not understand women but they DO! Women
know this but pretend men don't understand. This keeps things
mysterious and men wondering "What does she want? What did I do? Did I
say something wrong? What did she mean I don't understand?" This is to
keep men confused and buying things for women which is the secret plan
they all work under. And women conspire against men. This is what they
do when they all go to the ladies room at the same time.

I'll tell you something men don't seem to know about women.
Women want the one they love to tell them they're beautiful. Guys, if
you can't remember the last time you told your SO you thought she was
beautiful, rest assured it seems twice as long to her. And she's
probably been hinting around for you to say it until she's blue in the
face, and you just haven't.
So this is the perfect time. Either pick up the phone and call her, or
turn to her and tell her you think she's beautiful.

Crap? Psychobabble? Bzzzzt. Thanks for playing.
It's an accepted abbreviation for one's boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance/
fiancee/wife/husband/lover/bla bla bla. If you don't know what the
relationship is, it's useful. It's inclusive. I know how much some
people hate the idea of being inclusive.
You don't have to use it. I want to, so get off my effing case.

Well, YOU can say "my wife", cuz you know she is, right? But not
everybody is married to the person they love, and not everybody is
engaged to the person they love, and some people think the term
"boy/girlfriend" is queer and stupid, and I personally can't keep all
these things straight.
I mean, look at Frau Blucher. Didn't she sound pretty stupid saying
"He vas my BOYFRIEND!" 8^)?

don't have a husband. I have a partner, a Significant Other,
a lover I suppose, but I'm not exactly going to introduce
him that way, ie, "Mom, Dad, this is my lover." No, that just
does not work. Significant Other, while not a wildly romantic
term, is at least a fairly widely accepted way to refer to
someone you live with and have a relationship with who is not
married to you.

J: Michele, you have attended women's conferences in the past correct?
You also know that these conferences on many occasions have seminars

yes, that's precisely why he gives the term new
meaning, my dear.

"I'd like you to meet my belle."
It would sound extremely silly, especially since I'd be
introducing my cat! :-) :-)
I have introduced Keith as "SO" or "Significant Other"
and people seemed to have conprehended that just fine.
Which is good, since we'll stay that way until the laws
change such that the bank doesn't think my condo forclosure
is any of his financial business and the DSS and colleges
don't think my income is any of his children's business.

What about if you introduce your SO like:
I'd like you to meet my woman,____.
Some of my SO's like the possesive sound of that line.

That's more intimate, between Porgy and Bess (even tho zillions of

"his woman", I'd slug him.

Bess, you is my woman now.
You is, you is,
And you must laugh
And sing and dance
For two instead of one.
...
Porgy, I's your woman now!
I's yours forever --
Morning time and evening time
And summer time and winter time.
