Using SQL*Net 2.1.3.0.1 on AXP to access Oracle7 on NT. Local version of Oracle7 is 7.1.3.2.0. Message is displayed that Oracle V7 is required. Then install creates a number of files and aborts with error that it cannot find LDRV$ORACLE_SHR.EXE which it is in the process of linking. Investigation showed that install uses Ora_products(?) to check version of RDBMS, but cannot find RDBMS.CTL file in ORA_ROOT:[UTIL]. Copied UTIL.CTL to RDBMS.CTL and all was fine. Is this a known? A bug? Or is there something seriously wrong with this site? Colin - Danmark

1149.1 | Not a problem - workaround fine | BROKE::BITHER | Fri Apr 11 1997 09:45 | 14 | |
Hi Colin, >> Is this a known? A bug? Or is there something seriously wrong with this >> site? The different flavors of Oracle v7 tend to change file locations of certain files that our gateway depends on. It is not practical to release different versions of the gateway for the different v7.#.#.#.# especially because we don't know what has changed until after it has been released to the customer base. The workaround you implemented is exactly what we would recommend. Diane |
