Hi, Is it true that DECNET is a requirement to use remote links to RDB databases? DBI requires DECDTM for remote links to Rdb,DBMS etc. DECDTM requires DECNET (TCP/IP on the wish list according to DEC). Therefore any VMS sites using TCPIP as their only transport, can't use DBI for remote Rdb links. (or use 2pc for that matter!) I apologise if this is documented and I haven't seen it. Cheers, Dennis.

    Hi Dennis,

I know we test our tcp/ip connectivity to remote Rdb databases, but in
fact I can't think of a machine we've tested on that doesn't have
DECnet, so while the transport we use for connectivity to Rdb is tcp/ip
i guess there could be decnet action using ddtm under the covers.
There is a way to disable ddtm if this is truly a problem, please send
mail if you need more info as I do not want to document it here.

    Thanks,

    Dan
