1067.0. "products needed for a configuration ?" by CHSR36::JSUBRI (Focus on Open/Rdb++) Tue Jun 11 1996 10:32

If a non-Rdb customer wants to access from a PC (MS-Access, Excel...)
a RMS file located on the VAX side, what we need to sold ?

DBI + transparent gateways to RMS , do we need to add some Rdb licenses
for using Rdb, SQL/services and ODBC ?

Thanks

1067.1Just DBI Gateway for RMSDIGANT::GREENTue Jun 11 1996 12:2517
Jean-Luc,

Hi.

The customer only needs DBI Gateway for RMS. This gateway includes SQL/Services
and some Rdb Common Components.

The license is just for the gateway.

The name DBI Gateway for RMS is the old DEC name of the product. I think that
the name will change to Rdb Access Module For RMS in the near future. Someone
can jump in here if I'm wrong with the new product name.

We have lots of customers using the configuration you described.

Hope that this helps,
Don

    Hi,

    Yup, Don has it right. I'll jump in though cause I think the product
    name is something like "Rdb Transparent Gateway to RMS"
