Has anyone spoken to or hired any of the following:

    	Barbara Baker - Lunenburg
    	Nancy Schwartz - Groton
    	Howard Fuller - Sterling

These were the recommendations from the Inn we reserved...

Also, how much does the 'average' JP cost to perform a simple ceremony?

70.56JP FeesMROA::BERGARTJeff-the-refThu Feb 06 1997 09:4823
I am a newly appointed JP. The maximum allowable fee a JP may charge
FOR VOWS is $45 for a service in his/her town and $60 for outside their
    town.

The JP MAY charge for any additional extras that they provide such as
a hall, food, music, flowers, rehearsals, wedding planning, etc.

I just performed my first wedding for a couple and their 4 friends in
my own home in Acton. My wife baked cookies, we served hot apple cider,
and I gave them a nice certificate of marriage (not a legal document).

They did not have a preference for vows so I wrote them for them. The
service took about 20 minutes and the entire event about an hour. It
was lots of fun. The bride spoke mostly Portuguese. She struggled a
bit with the "Repeat after me" parts but we had a good time and they
really appreciated my effort to speak Portuguese at the end! (I told the
bride "Now you may kiss your new husband" in Portuguese which I had
    gotten phonetically from a friend).

    My fee was $45.

    Regards,
    				Jeff Bergart

        reply to .55

I have Barbra Baker booked for my wedding but im having second thoughts
when we booked her we spent 1hr on the phone with her to get the
details straight, she sent out the "contract" and it was all right
there in her hand writing. Then 2 months later she phoned me very
confused about what we had wanted and the time. So I have been having
second thoughts about going with her and have an appointment to see
another JP who has come highly recommended. We shall see....
