9.20Location of boats from the train stationAKOFAT::VISCONTITue May 06 1997 11:4512
    We will be traveling from Interlaken to Lucern via train the morning of
    Monday 19-May to catch the William Tell Express boat/train combination
    to Lugano which departs at 11:30.

    Is the area where we pickup the boat, walking distance (with Luggage)
    from the train station?

    Secondarily, are there any restrictions on the amount of luggage you
    are allowed to bring on the trains?

    Regards,
    Jim

The boat piers are across the street from the train station!

You're only limited by what you can lug around. I think all trains have
luggage racks above the seats. The newer trains have seats that are set
back-to- back and there is room for good-sized suitcases to be set between
them. Most if not all trains also have space for luggage at the ends of
the cars where the doors are and many people leave their luggage there. It
you're afraid it'll be taken, you can grab a seat near the door so that you
can keep an eye on it. Most people don't seem too concerned about having
their stuff swiped though.

Sounds like fun. Hope the weather cooperates and that enjoy your trip.
I've spent many a nice day on the Vierwaldstttersee (Lake Lucerne).

9.23Swiss Railway information on the WebLEVEL4::LEVEL4::SWANSONLarry - PSC Engineering, SwitzerlandWed May 14 1997 01:3510
I thought I'd put this in here once, but I'm not sure. The Swiss Railways
have a Web Page:  http://www.sbb.ch/

Among other things, you can enter start and destination points and it will
display detailed schedules (departure, arrival, transfers, type of train,
if there are restaurant cars, etc.). Recently they also added ticket
prices for th specified trip. Now you can plan you vacation to the minute
and the Franc.
