1222.0. ""Cryptopsy" IS heavy!!" by KAOFS::C_MENENDEZ (CARLOS, SOO ONT MCS (705)945-7862) Wed Apr 09 1997 19:42
Mike:
Since we were discussing on some topic about "heaviness" on the
bands, I thought you might want try this one for size.
The name of the band is Cryptopsy, I'm sure Dle knows them. This
is a Canadian band from Quebec and they ARE heavy, just like Kataklysm.
IMO this is some sort of technical death with incredible speed/brutali
ty. The vocals are also brutal, so you can't complain.
In comparison with Vital Remains (which I think was the band we
were talking about), VR are a completely different style. VR is a very
structured, not ultra speed death. I don't know what Dle thinks, but
they have some traces of death and some distinct black influences. I
like VR a lot, but they are just one style of music. Brutal they ARE
and I have read some very positive comments about their live performan
ces on the newsgroups. Currently thay are on tour with Incantation and
I'm waiting for the Michigan dates Dle was supposed to send me to see
if I can finally catch them live.
On the other hand, I would probably have some problems finding some
thing heavier than Kataklysm/Cryptopsy/Neuraxis. These guys can leave
you dumb if you listen at high volume levels.
The name of the CD I just got is NOT SO VILE, and it's highly
recommended.
