    Abba Gold is a gem of a CD.  I wish I wouldn't have been so
    close-minded when I was a kid - this band roolz!

They were great and the Gold CD's (the black and the white) are among my
favourites. Their albums were fine in general.
Apparently "Chess", an album released by Bjorn and Benny is also very good.

    as leisure suits and big gold necklaces ?  like who was it...oh 
    like the Bee Gees ?  Thank god I missed the whole disco era...
    although I did suffer for many years living at home in Virginia
    and being subjected to my dad's love for country music.  And back
    then they didn't have this new country rock stuff.  Everything was
    played with a steel guitar and slides and was about some guys wife
    leaving him and his dog dying and stuff....well I guess country hasn't
    diverted too much from that....but I digress...tell me more of this

    music on the soundtrack that you though humanly possible.  Also, you
    will see the influence of listening to TOO much ABBA music on a young

    Maybe that will wake you all up again.

    And I'm not in denial........I actually prefered Cheap Trick's Dream

    Paully, learn to like the 70's era of music. ABBA was a very popular
    band in that time. They had quite a few hits, I personally like
    Fernado. Nothing wrong with that. I remember skating to that tune in
    Manitoba when I was a wee lad. They played music on a P.A. system and
    ABBA was played a lot since it was VERY popular music.

    I have a funny ABBA story I'd like to share with y'all.  Although this
    sounds like something right out of the Ramones' movie "Rock n Roll High
    School" (with PJ Harvey), this is a TRUE story.
    
    Now, while ABBA enjoyed sparse moments of stardom here in the U.S.,
    they were absolutely HUGE over in the U.K. and in Australia.  One has
    to realize that at the time, they were like the Pearl Jam or Led
    Zeppelin of their days -- concert tickets were NOT to be had, period!
    
    I have this friend of mine who lives in Sydney, Australia, who is 
    completely MAD about ABBA!  We're talking WAY over-the-top here!!
    When ABBA toured Australia on their farewell tour, he took a weeks
    vacation from work to "camp out" for tickets at the stadium box office!
    Needless to say, his preserverance paid off, landing him with front row
    center seats for the show!
    
    The evening of the show arrives, and the atmosphere in the concert hall
    has escalated to dizzying proportions!  The lights go out and the crowd
    goes berzerk!  The lights go up, the stage curtain opens, and my friend
    finds that Her Royal Majesty, Agnetha, is standing DIRECTLY in front of
    him!  Now, out of the two women in the band, he was insanely in lust
    with Agnetha.  Dumbfounded by the sight of her only feet away, he
    begins to hyperventalate, goes into convulsions, passes out and hits
    his head on the metal rimmed chairs on the stadium floor.  Bleeding and
    unconscious, he is wisked out of the concert hall by security and
    rushed to Sydney Hospital.
    
    He never heard one single note played by the band!

      Yeh DT is awesome.  Their drummer is very creative and does some
    very cool double bass stuff.  I have heard an older album, the one
    with Pull Me Under on it, before but I don't have any DT cds myself.
    So yes a DT cd would make a lovely gift too.  Thanks. ;)

    no I feel that it is my duty to give them a chance.  This is a great
    responsibility which has been placed upon me and I must act without
    prejudice.  I will however state for the record that the only music
    I consider to be great that came from the 70's was VanHalen, Jimi
    Hendrix (well from the late 60's...but 69 is just too cool a year
    to ignore), Eagles, Aerosmith, and probably a few others that 
    I forgot to mention here.  The Partridge Family I am convinced was
    inbred and hence produced crappy inbred music.  I will attest to the
    fact that I got into the Brady Bunch music but only if was on tv
    so I could see Marsha bending over in her tight little polyester
    outfit...hey whatya expect I was a 7 yo boy.  ;)

    Ok people....for those of you that think ABBA was not a good band,
    where were you last Friday night???
    I went to see the Headstones last Friday and guess what song they ended
    thier show with???

    Yes, there is no mistake....they played an awesome rock version of
    S.O.S. It kicked mega-butt!!!! And they even had the bass solo during

    	Actually my biggest wish would be to take every copy of every ABBA
    tune; whether it be on Compact Disc, Vinyl, Tape or even 8-Track. Find
    a huge open field and practice some SKEET SHOOTING!!! This band does
    nothing but remind me of bell bottom pants, loud plaid shirts with
    lapels big enough to be mistaken for wings on a 747, mirror balls and
    anything else that could turn your stomach from the '70s.

The agony of it all.  I rented Muriel's Wedding forgetting completely (until it
started) that it was an Abba-fest.   Eyaaah!  Then I found myselft liking the
movie and even tolerating the music...
