| ..i heard an interview with the woman who plays in this band...even
she said they suc*....which has been my opinion all along..but she
also said that they never tried to get signed that they were just
having fun and somebody heard them and wanted them to record and if
people had a problem with that....then it was their problem..not
the bands....and they should lighten up....and while i think she's
right in feeling that way and i can appreciate her attitude...
i still think they suc* and wouldn't go to see them even if they were
playing in my living room........................./k

We were at Newbury Comics the other night, and the guy I was
there with came up to me with this album and said "Isn't this
the one that caused all that trouble a few weeks ago?" And I
said, "Yup". So he said, "Then I'm gonna buy it just for that".

| ha!!! thats pretty much the reason why I bought it!!! ;-)
its funny how bad publicity actually helps the bands!!!
I remember when Diceman was banned from MTV...next thing ya know,
he's selling out 15,000 seat arenas!! But as for the Butt heads..
I do have to agree with the previous notes...it does s@@k...
more of a joke than anything....but I guess from that interview that
was their intentions anyways. I did notice that the parental advisory
label did say "lighten up" below it!!

1071.6 | Leominster a.k.a. the "sure, we'll ban it!" city.. | ASDG::MCNAMARA | strange visitor...... | Tue Apr 04 1995 07:40 | 16 |
| ..for the record, the effort to ban this release was spearheaded by
one woman; she got plenty of coverage in the Leominster paper,
then a meeting was called to discuss the ban....it was soundly
defeated by a City council vote (as well as by most attending
the meeting)...THEN, this self-righteos city concillor name Catalso
made it his personal crusade again..jeesh!!!
Lighten-Up is right!! This from the city that's in the process of
banning rolling papers, and has made "excessively loud music"
in cars a crime, as well as setup a teen curfew....all with very
little effect on the "supposed" problems...
can youz say "Big Brother"???

| Teen Curfew? What the hell are these people on? Are they Nazis or Communists
or something? If you're not commiting crime, you should be able to walk the
streets at any time of day or night. It's their problem if they can't control
crime. They're missing the point completely.

RE: Teen suiside in Leominister.
No wonder teen suiside is up, living under these conditions probably
could drive (week-minded) teens to suiside. I too believe these
"laws" are ridiculous, it sounds like old Russia, what ever happened
to Rights and Freedoms?
As for the band, Butt Trupetts, I think I've heard one song,
so I can't really comment on them, but a Butt Trupet and ButtHole
Surfers concert would be funny, except I think I'd be a little scared
of what kind of crowd it'd attract..*)

>Here in Phoenix, if police can hear your radio 50 yards from your car,
>it's a $300 fine. Teen curfew is 11pm.
>
>I admit Leominster has other problems that should be addressed though.
>Teen suicide being one major one.
So if you say to the cop ... "if you don't let me play my radio
as loud as I want I'll kill myself!!", what would he do?

| Actually I kinda agree with the loud music thing...to an extent anyways.
I used to live in a apartment complex in Leominster and without fail,
every Thursday, Friday, Saturday night some moron (s) would drive
through around midnight-1am....blasting out some cr*p rap out of their kicker
boxes in the trunk....There really is no need for that. Maybe I wouldn't have
minded so much if I liked the music!! 8-) The complex did have night security
who did tell these people to turn it down...and most did
without a problem. Should this be a law?? Would it be defined, ie time,
residential areas?? etc. $300.00 fine is real steep!! hard to say...
as far as the other stuff.....banning rolling papers?? Come on!!
Teen curfew is ridiculous.....ban the Butt Trumpets?? Lighten up!!!!
As far as the teen suicide..this was a real problem but that was years ago.
Before all the banning stuff...Not sure what the deal was with that
but it was scary!!!

Isn't Phoenix the same place that has housing areas in suburban areas
