1068.0. "OUR LADY PEACE" by POLAR::KFICZERE () Wed Mar 15 1995 12:49

    Another kickin' Toronto based band.Thier debut CD titled NAVEED.A solid
    well written piece.The band is made up of a fairly young crew-with an
    18 yr old drummer to boot.One of those discs you tend to play *very
    LOUD*.
    On a side note, they are playing at the Equinox this Tuesday
    (03/21 -U of O) for any Ottawa based folks that may be interested.It's
    gonna be a great show.
    Anybody south of the border heard of these boys?

	One of their songs is getting big time airplay on WAAF. I understand
	that they are moving to Boston in the very near future. Did they get
	kicked out of Canada?

     re: -1 Yeah, they were too good for us. We don't want Bryan Adams to
     get crowded with other Canadian talent...

     In actually fact, OLP is great...

1068.4Great band!POLAR::KFICZEREMon Mar 20 1995 08:227
    I really like 'em as well.It's good to see some more C talent breaking
    into the US scene. I got my tickets for tomorrow nite and i'm PUMPED!!
    I guess i'll see what i can do about a review afterwords.
    Regarding that move to Boston rumour...any more info on that?

	I heard they want to come to Boston to play the club scene before
	striking out on the big tour...says a lot for the local scene...
	I heard this on both WAAF and WBCN, two local rock radio heavies...

    Don't you guys have STP? If that's any indication of the scene in B,i
    say rite on!(and Extreme??)I guess someone is using thier head.That
    imo,would be good promotional tactics as well as good business in the
    long run.I hope they do well.Fromwhat i hear, they're a pretty good
    bunch of lads.I guess i'll let you know on Friday.

    Well......I fell 'shame.Promised yuz a review but got WAY to wrecked to
    pay attention to the actual show.I had a great time,they rocked.I
    vaguely remember dancing on a pool table for a while.I also remember
    the singer [Raine] yelling from the stage for the remaining hangers-on
    (who couldn't score stubs to the sold-out show) to come on in
    anyways,"we'll put you on the guest list!" cool guys,great show,shite
    sound (from ottop the pool table anyways).
    High point--Needle and the Damage Done-Neil y. cover---kicked!!

      They seem to be playing this song very frequently. Any Idea where to
    find it recorded??

1068.9cool stuff!POLAR::KFICZERESat Nov 04 1995 10:486
    Yes. You can get this song off of the (fairly) new Neil Young tribute
    Cd.It's a double,but imo, very cool.All CANADIAN bands do the 30+
    covers. One cd is acoustic and one is strait ahead rock n roll.I can
    give you the run down on the bands if you want....

    Thanks to a good buddy (Dave) winnin' tickets to the "Wall of Rock"
    party I'll be seein' this band for the second time and really can't
    wait!!!

    	They'll be playing with other Canadian groups such as "I Mother
    Earth" & "The Barstool Prophets". All really decent bands...BTW TBP
    play a tune called "paranoia" that can be found on the "Crank" CD or
    on the "Never Talk to Strangers" sndtrk. (big news for a small band out
    of Cornwall (Ottawa) Ontario.

    	Dave being the biggest winner of this contest with 16 tickets
    (valued at approx. $30.) has got me on his invite list! YESSIR!
    It pays to be...the oddball...

1068.15PARTY!!!POLAR::BRASSINGTONSettle Down you arm pitWed Jun 05 1996 03:3614
    Hey J and Davey,

    This event will be more than a party. Seeing as how we have a party
    going to a party we will most certainly have ourselves an adventure. I
    too saw Our Lady Peace when they opened for Van Halen and IMHO they
    were great. Looking forward to seeing them agin on the 26th. Can't
    say I am excited about seeing TBP, but I can't wait to see I Mother
    Earth.

    P

    By the way Davey, I still think your best bet is to hit him over the
    head and just take his jeep.

    They are really worth having a listen to. There first CD was titled
    Naveed (I think it was there first) and is rock'n.

1068.19POLAR::BRASSINGTONSettle Down you arm pitWed Jun 05 1996 03:506
    Fairly new, yes. I'm not exactly sure when they started, but the CD
    Naveed was only released last summer (or around there I believe). It
    was last summer that I saw them with Van.

    one that should be released in a few months.

    RE: .16 & .17

    	A small correction P, the disk is called "The Birdman" (I think!)

    and I really can't describe what they sound like...especially for the
    Colorado boys...cause OLP is definately not Heavy Metal! Good $#!+
    though, none the less!

    	They do a pretty decent cover of Neil Youngs "Needle and the Damage
    Done".

    in order to get away with my baby!

    I can still come to the concert though...eh...right?

    I think you are right. Now that I think about it I think it is called
    The Birdman.

    P

    By the way, I think that Davey wants it bad enough that it won't even
    take a blunt object. If he tries to take you out with a doughnut hole
    you most definately won't have anything to worry about.
