1040.0. "Bush, Stan" by UPROAR::THOMASM (Mark Thomas (CONTRACTOR)) Wed Sep 28 1994 03:03

HELP !!!

Anyone out there know anything about Stan Bush ?

Eleven years ago I was in a record shop in The Toon (That's Newcastle upon Tyne,
England !) when I heard this amazing rock ballad "Can't Live Without Love"
playing over the PA. I HAD to buy the album (even then it was GBP 12 ON VINYL)
which turned out to be by some guy called Stan Bush. Even at only 35 minutes, it
is still one of the best lite-rock LPs in my collection ("All American Boy",
"Say the Word" and "Time isn't Changing You" are other tracks).

Then..... Nothing. Until years later "Stan Bush and Barrage" had a minor hit in
the States (I think) with "The Touch", and released an album. Again, killer
lite-rock.

Since then (and it must have been about 1989) zilch, until browsing in the HMV
shop in London, I came across 2 NEW Stan Bush CDs from 1993 and 1994.
Unfortunately I can't remember the names, because the discs are currently at
home 250 miles away !! The 1994 effort is called "Dial (something or other !)"
and is OK, but the 1993 effort, on a shocking pink CD, is a real beaut. Jonathan
Cain of Journey helps out on playing and writing, and the whole thing is
brilliant - vaguely reminiscent of Aldo Nova. "Landslide" is the best track.

Anyway, enough waffle. If any noters out there know anything about Stan Bush -
what was he doing in those quiet years, does he have any other material, was he
in any other bands, has he ever toured, etc, etc, please respond here.

Cheers

Mark

Stan is an Aussie, and has quite a no. of CD's to his credit. You'll probably
find these in bargain bins, or as cut-outs etc. Earlier this year, whilst in
Nottingham, I saw him at Rock City, for the princely sum of 4.50! But I don't
think he sounds like Aldo.

Thanks for the info. I'll get hunting in the bins.

Re the Aldo comparison, it would maybe be more accurate to say that some of the
stuff on the latest two albums sounds like some of the better stuff on Aldo's
"Blood on the Bricks". He certainly sounds nothing like Also Nova did before a
certain Mr. Bon Jovi got his grubby mitts on him.
