I was listening to Stern one night (purely by accident of course) and
he was ragging on John BIGTIME.
Stern is such a loser.

No, I avoid the show. It has the same appeal to me as Liz Wildes
show. I prefer to listen to David Brudnoy.
>>Stern is such a loser.
> Pot calling the kettle black?
Looks like I must have hit a sore spot! Geez Buck, do you always
come out swinging like this whenever someone has an opposing
opinion?
I refuse to throw insults at other noters anymore. Insult me
all you want, I'll just sit back and laugh.

| Stern rags on everyone and everything.
Hey, sometimes I am offended by some of the stuff he does but I think
he actually does some good: he takes a lot of things that people
should speak more freely about and by forcing them in people's face
constantly he desensitives us to it.
I think in an ideal world, a guy like Stern wouldn't be viewed as that
big a deal.
Stern is just as likely to make fun of jews (which he is) as blacks,
gays, whatever. He has black and gay people on his immediate staff.
That tells you something right there.

I've always disliked sarcasm. That's probably why I can't stand
Stern. New Englanders seem to thrive on sarcasm.
|
1037.10 | | POWDML::BUCKLEY | why do we have to fall from grace? | Mon Sep 26 1994 14:48 | 19 |
| I think the thing about Stern is that 'people take life too seriously
and for no good reason' ... seems like more than a few people have a
problem with that approach.
I agree with db, I think Howard rags on things just to get a rise out
of people, or to prove some sort of warped point of view. I think he's
a pretty intelligent guy, as opposed to LIz Wylde, whos just an idiot
imvho. It doesn't take brains to rag on people (like when Liz kept
making comments to Ronnie James Dio about him being short and how it
sucks to be short), but it does take brains to twist a conversation to
get people to continually talk about something they do NOT want to talk
about (Howard's approach).
But, you can like him or leave him for all I really care.
RE: Pete
Not a low blow...just called it how I saw it. I mean, "loser" as based
on what criteria? Not slagging your opinion, but what's it based upon?

Maybe my comment was harsh, I take it back. I will say this though;
Sometimes he's funny but I just don't like his style at all. I'd
much rather listen to talk radio like David Brudnoy than Stern.
Hell, I'm at the point where I hardly ever listen to FM radio
at all anymore.

Hey Buck, my SiL Tina was there for that Dio interview. Tina brought
in the Elf CD and from what she said, Dio was REALLY pissed about
that!
Liz is ridiculous. Tina says that a 10 year old has a better
grasp on intelligence and reality than 99.9% of the people there.

Why was he pissed? He doesn't want anyone to know about Elf?

re. Cook:
> I've always disliked sarcasm.
But you like Brudnoy? I'm missing something, 'cause David's pretty
darn good at this (one of the reasons I listen to him also, he's one
of my heros).
But I check out Stern every now and then. When he's not on his "The
Whole World's Against Me, I'm quitting this at the end of the year"
kicks he's actually okay.
Showing up on Letterman with the OJ shirt was primo. After Dave
claimed he didn't find anything funny about a double murder, HS
crowed "that's the difference between you and me Dave, I find humour
in everything!"
But I agree on Liz Wilde - she has got to be the boringest, stupidest,
waste of human DNA sitting behind a microphone. Utterly
non-interesting.

PR things that famous radio personalities do. He said she was quite
"Rubinesque" (ie. fat!). Since she is a sex goddess, perhaps she could
use her divine powers to trade in each pound of lard for 1 IQ point.
I think her and John Osterlan of WAAF should get together. They're both
annoying and stupid.
