No clubs -- but I highly recommend a trip over to FUN FOREST amusement
park -- it's by the space needle thingie... Take a whirl on their
WINDSTORM steel roller coaster ... don't let the 58' height fool you,
    this puppy packs a punch!

I can't remember club names (other than "THE CLUB"), but eat at
Benjamin's while you're there. It's down by the water near the
Kingdome. Their burnt creme (dessert) is awesome!

If I think about it enough, I'll probably come up with more.

A friend of mine went up there for a couple of months last summer and
he said there was this one street that had tons of clubs on it. Said
it was great because you could walk around and hear a lotta different
music without having to drive or take cabs or anything. I don't
know the name of the street though, but I'm sure someone living there
    could help you.

As someone who enjoys the club scene in Seattle on a regular
basis, here are a few suggestions:

If you're looking for "Seattle music," try RCKNDY (pronounced
"Rock Candy"). It's just north of downtown on Yale, I think.
You can get directions easily. Decor is BASIC: plywood
walls, mosh pit, old sofas in aisleways, chain link fence
along the balcony. It's the grunge look incarnate. And this
is the prototypical grunge club where many of these bands
started. Be prepared for a young crowd, very loud music
(they sell earplugs at the bar and I recommend them), beer
slinging (usually by the performers), moshing, and a general
spirit of anarchy that's hard to beat.

Another club similar to the above is The Crocodile Cafe. I
don't know where it is because I've never been there. They
are written up almost every week on what famous singers
	 visited there (like Eddy Vedder).

The area referred to in previous replies was probably Pioneer
Square--my personal favorite. It's on the south end of town,
mostly on 1st Ave. in the vicinity of Jackson and Yesler
streets. There are about a dozen clubs within a few blocks.
Many of them have a joint cover charge--for about $7 you have
in and out privileges at all of them for the evening.

There's good variety too: blues, R&B, grunge, heavy metal,
reggae. I like mixing it up in a single evening. It really
is like a block party (or like Bealle Street in Memphis) on a
weekend night or during Fat Tuesday week. At the Fenix
Underground you're apt to see John Corbett (alias "Chris in
the morning" on Northern Exposure) watching music, serving
         beer, or washing glasses.

It's easy enough to move around in Pioneer Square and find
what you like. But here are some specific suggestions:

	 	Seattle music, Candlebox
		heavy metal Swan Cafe
					Fenix Underground

	 	R&B Doc Maynard's

	 	Blues Larry's
					The Central
					Old Timer's

I hope this is helpful. It may be too late for the base
noter, but to anyone visiting in the future perhaps.

	 Enjoy,
	 Paul

Thanks Paul...yeah, it is a little late for my march trip out there......
but i'll be back to seattle sometime and it'll be really useful then..
    tx again....../k
999.10Ooops, that's "Colour Box"GUIDUK::KRUGDouble tall decaf latte, please!Thu Apr 14 1994 13:3911
Oooops! One correction:

	 	Seattle music, Candlebox
		heavy metal Swan Cafe
					Fenix Underground

The first club should have been ***The Colour Box**, not Candlebox. Candlebox
is a Seattle band. My mistake!
