997.0. "Candlebox" by MPGS::POTTLE () Mon Feb 14 1994 08:17

Candlebox will be opening for RUSH at the Centrum in Worcester Ma.
They have some pretty tasty tunes IMHO. They HEADLINED the WAAF
    HALLOWEEN party this past OCTOBER.

                           "Pearl Jam / Candle Box"

Got word from a friend of mine who's management at the
Centrum that "Pearl Jam" is to be appearing at the Boston Garden on
April 24th! This has NOT been confirmed as of yet!
Since I have teenagers at home and go way out of my way to
keep in touch with what they like or don't like musically I've found
that "Pearl Jam" and more recently "Candle Box" are two of the finest
Rock'n Roll bands out there today, I.M.O.
Had a "Blues Band" but the minute I listened to Pearl Jam's
"Vs" I immediately thought, "they've got it, they're absolutely right,
they're great, write great songs, have a great sound" and then put to-
gether an ORIGINAL band, and even at my age, after listening to some of
our LIVE tapes still have that same anger and energy, and maybe even
    more so!
The only problem with that is that it appears to me that KIDS
are the ONLY ones who aren't brain dead yet and have some idea about
what it's like to be out there in the real world?
Sure would hate the idea that I'd only be able to play for
    Computer people in there 30's & 40's who haven't got a clue?
Drinkin' and makin' beleive they can dance & have rhythm!!!
Just a thought but I don't beleive any groups like "Pearl
Jam" or "Candle Box" could possibly ever come out of the East Coast?
I know why but does anyone wanna take a shot at it?

                                                       "Policeman W.M.A."

                                                          SKIPP TRACER

997.2New Album Released todayEDWIN::HOOKERTue Oct 03 1995 11:168
I heard on WAAF that Candlebox's new CD is released today.
It has that song "Simple Lessons" that they've been playin a
lot lately. Don't beleive I've heard any other tunes off the
new disc though. But their last disc was really good so I
tink I'll try to hop on out to Strawberries sometime soon and
    pick it up.

Does anyone know how the "Lucy" cd is compared to the first one (I
think it's the first one, U know the one with "Far Behind" etc.)?

Cause I thought the "Simple Lessons" tune sounded an awful lot like the
stuff before it...not a bad thing...just sounds the same is all!

yeah JJ and I were there too. My favorite was when they came back
on for the encore and played Black Sabbath and he couldn't remember the
words so he just kept stickin out the mic for everyone else to sing.
That was a good show. The opener was pretty decent too. Triple Fast
Action I think was they're name. Anyways, we had the assh*le section,
gen admission seats. We were lucky enough to wind up at a table with
this guy and his date, who was already blitzed out of her skull. He
kept feeding her drinks while she kept being obnoxious and sucking off
his face. Until eventually she passed out in the floor while he kept
watching the band. She was a spaz. Anyways, it was a good show.

Shane, who thought the weather this weekend was just puurrfect...

Oh cool, too bad I didn't bump into you two!!! Glad to hear
you had a good time. We missed the opening band....had general admission
but we just hung out near the back bar until later on when we
made our way to the side stage. Eventually made it to the front of the
stage for the encores...which were cool!! They did Journey, Sabbath
and what was the 3rd one?? I just cant think of it.....speaking of
obnoxious....at the end I had caught a drumstick and some chick just
ripped it out of my hands....Im like, damn.....Keep it B*tch!! 8-)
