972.0. "Fight" by KURMA::IGOLDIE (Dope for guns) Fri Sep 24 1993 19:48

Fight.....the new band lead by Rob Halford of ex Judas Priest fame.

I heard a song called "nailed to the gun" and thought it sounded pretty
good then Rob's voice kicked in.Not as good as it was and certainly
didn't fit the general sound of the band. All the other members were
not well known except for Scott Travis on drums(ex Racer X and ex Judas
    Priest).
All round heavy sound...but wasted by the dodgey vocals.

Oh, come now ... I thought the vocals on "The Sentinel" from
"Defenders ..." were amazing!! And that's just one example
    	of the later albums.

I'm not much of a Priest fan so I'm just talking about his voice on
singles released...fwiw,I thought his singing on the song Painkiller
made him sound like a Dalek from Dr.Who.

tanktop(US)that showed all his lovely tattoos and nipple rings!!

wich he got From Barques Root_Beer..Cuz now he has only a Lightnin_Bolt
on the side of his Head.What_Ever..I Didn't look fer the Nipple_Rings.
                                  *ACK*
One song they do..That Kicks_Ass..is"Into The Light".It's on the

re .2.You don't call the straining raspieness good vocals do ya???
Listen to the earlier albums like "Sad Wings of Destiny", "Stained
Class" or "Hell Bent for Leather" and then you can hear the difference
in his voice. You'll find that his voice is a lot more clearer and less
    strained...

Yeah, I saw a video on the HBB ... I could tell it was Rob
even before I saw who it was, and the band really cranks.

And I have the new Cathedral album, which I like enough.
This might even be a good excuse to go to Boston ... but
    	we'll see.

No Tipton or Downing, but the drummer that they used on "Painkiller" is
also in Fight. I can't remember his name, he also played in Racer X.

Well, I did pick this album up the other day, and after 1 listen
I like it. I don't love it ... but I might after a few more spins.

"A Little Crazy" is my favorite, and "Nailed to the Gun" is up
there. Song #10 [don't remember the name] sounds EXCELLENT ...
very good quality recording. Not sure why that one sounds so
    	good, but it does.

And for those of you who like this sort of thing, don't stop the
CD right after song 12 is done ... there's another song after a-
bout 3 minutes of silence. I think it's called "Jesus Saves".

Wow ... strange things happening with this note. I put in a reply,
and then I couldn't get back to it unless I SET SEEN/BEFORE=TODAY.
Then when I tried to extract it, it extracted the PREVIOUS 972.16
instead of the one I was looking at.

    	After a few SET SEEN's and a SET NOTE/NOTE_ID, I think I finally
can get the reply back here. We'll see.

Now watch me lose this one. 8^)

'A Little Crazy' is the most annoying song......

but then again thats probably cuz KILO only plays the damn song
    every fifteen minutes! :^{

So GTI is the other songs different that I might like them?

Oh, definitely ... most of the album is very heavy. Heavier than
Judas Priest. The guitar work is almost as good.

Is that maybe a cover of the Savatage tune?

"A Small Deadly Space" is out ... and after .8 listens there's
nothing that really grabs me like the 1st album did.

I'll give it at least 1 more chance ... probably in the Duster
where I can REALLY feel the music [or install the VW stereo in
    	the Supra].

Another "hidden track CD" ... geez, this idea is getting old!!

2 or 3 minutes after the last track ends, another song kicks in
that sounds like it was recorded in a [dirty] bathroom.
