| I really liked Farrenheit (and Balloon, AND The Joe Perry Project)
but Farren (the new band leaves me cold. It strikes me a just another
bad funk band. IMHO, Charlie & co. were walking a thin line between
Heavy metal and funk (with killer sax playing BTW) and now the music
has denegrated into a bad parody of a funk band crossed with new
Bad company styled pop love-songs hoping for a hit.

940.19 | Farren at the Rockpile, Saugus, MA | USOPS::CLELAND | Centerline violation... | Thu Aug 25 1994 07:25 | 20 |
| Well, thought I'd throw in a little update on the gog scene.
Farren is playing tomorrow night in Saugus, MA, at the Rockpile.
The Rockpile is located all the way around in back, in the
Officer's Club complex on Rt. 99 in Saugus (just off Rt 1 south),
From Rt 128, head south on Rt 1, look for the Sears shopping
center on the right, take that exit marked rt 99 (that's where
the dinosaur is for the miniature golf course). The Officer's Club
is less than a quarter mile down on the left, can't miss it.
Oh yeah, my band (new outfit) Tongue & Groove will be playing there
tomorrow as well. That's how I found out about Charlie's gig. And I
also called the Farren hotline # in a previous reply, and confirmed
that Charlie will be there friday the 26th.
If you're going, and you get there a little early, check out the
band Tongue & Groove, I'm the freak behind the drum kit...
Hope to see you there, Face

Caught Farren at the Cove this past saturday night. Now I'm not
the biggest fan on his tunes...they are good songs, just not my
cup of tea. It's always good to hear this dude's sound because
every time I've seen this guy come to town, he's got kick-ass
sound happening. --> must be the slewwww of ROCKMAN gear in his
racks (just kidding !e!).
Thrust and Little Sister opened. I thought Thrust was boring and
I liked Little Sister quite a bit...especially the sights on stage
left.

Thrust was better when Stan was playing lead/rhythm and Scottie was on
Drums! Little guy but could crank on the drums! And Bob on Bass, too
bad the latter two are no longer with us. Stan is with Jet City I hear
now. Thrust plays mostly older "classic" rock and some of their own
stuff thrown in.
I'd like to see Farrenheit(sp) as when I first heard them on the radio
I almost thought it sounded like Les Dudek! (really!).
