I heard a tune called 'Resurection' and it kicks!

Re: .3
Brian May sings on some of the Queen albums. The first verse of Who
Wants To Live Forever. The little jab at the end of Keep Yerself Alive.
("Do you think you're better everyday ...")
His voice is great.

| Everybody had great voices in Queen. Especially the drummer and bass
player. They had opera voices for backups. The new Brian May is
GREAT!! Nice solo on it to. And yeah...a little taste of old Queen on
this one!! I hope he sticks with that old Queen writing and sound...

I heard that there was a bit of a conflict between May and Mercury
regarding direction at some point regarding the old sound vs.
the new sound.
I recall reading a May quote sometime in the last couple of years that
he really wanted to put out a new "old style" album.
I liked "Night at the Opera" (of course), but for these ears, they
went downhill after that. I'd definitely take ANYTHING on
"Sheer Heart Attack" over any album after "Night".

Well after A Kind Of A Magic the music started taking on Mercury's
favorite aspects. More organ and synthesizer, With some songs almost
taking a dancy kind of effect. Where'as Brian May is more into melodic
arse kickin' guitar rock.
As far as all of them having great voices... Roger Taylor does those
extremely high "Gallelieo"'s in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Queen album. All the early stuff was incredible!

| I saw a recent photo of Brian May and Slash jamming together in Rolling
Stone magazine. I have tickets to see the Brian May band and GnR on the
6th, 8th and 16th of March. Has anyboby heard if the two will jam
together in concert?

| I heard that the Providence and Hartford show have been postponed on MTV
news last night. They will reschedule the shows, but how many times can
this happen with GnR???
On the brighter side I thought I heard on WHJY that Brian May will be
playing at JR's Fastlane Thursday night. Sounds like a great chance to see
a living legend!
However, I have no idea what town JR's Fastlane is in. Does anybody know
where it is? I assume it's around Providence.

Yeah!! Shear Heart Attack is great!! I also love the 1st album
(geez..I wore that one out!!) I also love "Queen 2". These three
albums were there best!!! After that I think they started going
downhill but " Night of the Opera " was OK cause "Bohemian Rhapsody"
was on it. As far as the album overall I thought it was the start of
there downfall...

| I liked all of "Night at the Opera".
"Death on Two Legs" is one of my all-time favorites. As good as
anything on (and very similar in style to) "Sheer Heart Attack".
"Sweet Lady"... same thing.
And I like all that theatrical Mercury stuff that was on that album.

It was pretty interesting and displayed a lot of great music.

| I thought it was a strong set. He mixed Queen/his stuff nicely
together.
I also thought his vocals were very strong. I spoke with him after the
show and he said that he is still getting adjusted to singing AND
playing guitar.
I was a bit disapointed at the lack of attention given to him from
most of the audience.

| I HAVE SEEN THE SHOW THREE TIMES ALREADY. NEW HAVEN ON THE 6, PORTLAND
ME ON THE 8 AND AUGUSTA ME ON THE 16. I CAN'T REMEMBER MOST OF THE
TITLES BUT SOME WERE, DRIVEN BY YOU, RESURRECTION, TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN,
HE ALSO DID A LITTLE BIT OF BOHEMIAN RAPSIDY IN RESURECTION. HIS LAST
SONG IN BOTH ME SHOWS WAS WE WILL ROCK YOU. IN CONN IT WAS HAMMER TO
FALL. HE HAD A KILLER SOLO AND A GREAT DRUM SOLO BY COZY POWELL.

936.27 | | DPE1::STARR | Love and hope and sex and dreams | Fri Mar 19 1993 11:22 | 18 |
| Brian was *very* good at the Garden. And, very surprisingly, his sound mix
was better than GnR's was all night! I could hear everything nice and clear,
particularly the vocals.
He did short sections of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "'39", and complete
versions of "We Will Rock You" (regular album version into the live album
version), "Hammer To Fall", and "Tie Your Mother Down" (with Nuno and Gary
from Extreme joining him).
I don't have the solo album, but I recognized "Driven By You" and "Too Much
Love Can Kill You". Also, there was a fun song where the girls played the
part of a bitch and Brian played the innocent guy - sorta of reminiscent
of Meatloaf's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". Overall, he played about
an hour.
alan
P.S. May's guitar tone ROOLED!!!!

936.28 | Back to the Light | BOVES::FENNELL | Back to the Light | Fri Mar 26 1993 09:59 | 22 |
| I've been listening to Back to the Light nonstop since I got it last weekend.
It is a bit too "poppy" for some people here, but I'm really into it. The
last song Alan mentions is Love Token which does remind me a bit of
Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
I've noticed other "influences" on this album. There is a strong
resemblence (to me) between portions of the solo in Resurrection and
Chinatown by Thin Lizzy. Another song I'm Scared sounds a bit like
Industrial Diesease by Dire Straits.
Too much love can Kill You is a bit sappy, but seems to fit in nicely.
My favorites: Back to the Light, Love Token (despite the iffy lyrics thanks
to Cozy Powell), Resurrection and Driven by You.
There's lots of solos and the classic Brian May tone is present throughout.
Cozy Powell thunders throughout this album.
I can't believe people didn't pay attention at the Garden. Oh well...
